New Treatment Options for SS20

SS20 marks the introduction of some fantastic new Design Options in USTYYLIT that give you the ability to add contrast treatments using lining, smoking (formal treatment) and edge piping. This post will help you understand how to correctly choose them when placing orders.

#1: Formal Treatment Lapel Edge Piping

This feature applies a strip of satin Formal Treatment (Smoking) to the edge of the lapel. For a shawl collar the treatment will continue around the back. For Notch or Peak Lapels, the trim ends at the top of the lapel. The satin is applied ON TOP of the fabric lapel.

This is a simple feature to choose in USTYYLIT and is available for men’s and ladies’ garments. In the section where you choose Formal Treatment locations like Lapel, Breast Pocket etc, you’ll find ‘Lapel Edge Piping’ as the last option in the list.

#2: Front & Collar Piping Treatment

In your new SS20 Design Option Binders you will have a page titled ‘Lapel / Front Panel Piping’. If you do not have that binder, or simply want a reference image, you will find a picture of the page below these two example images.

This feature is available for men’s garments now and for ladies’ garments it should be ready in May. The piping treatment is sewn along the edge of the lapel and collar. It is NOT sewn on top like the previous feature. When choosing this feature you need to choose Fabric instead of Felt for the Melton (Undercollar) design option. The piping cannot be easily sewn to the collar with a Felt undercollar.

In USTYYLIT, simply choose Yes for the new option “Front & Collar Piping” and then choose a color from the next dropdown.

#3: Lining Edge Piping Treatment

This is an interior contrast treatment that can ONLY be used inside Fully Lined jackets. This feature uses solid lining colors to pipe / trim the edge of the interior lining where it meets the fabric facing.

As shown in the 2nd image below, when you click the ‘eyeball’ to the right of the ‘Piping Treatment Color’ dropdown, the pop-up window will give you a preview of the lining colors that can be used for this contrast feature.

#4: Exposed Seam Piping w Lining

This is an interior contrast treatment that can ONLY be used inside Half Lined or Unlined jackets. The feature uses the same lining colors available for the previous feature. The difference here is that the lining is used to pipe / trim the exposed fabric seam allowance that is visible or exposed in partially lined jackets.

Like the previous feature you can click the eyeball to see the lining colors available for this feature.
